Does “FARTING” help you lose weight?
Why would I make such a silly statement? Does passing gas, “FARTING,” help you lose weight?
Well let’s take a look at this and break it down a little.
When we change our eating habits and start eating a healthier diet such as more fruits, vegetables, fiber, and protein, we are increasing digestive activity. One of the by-products of a healthy digestive system is the release of gas. So, when there is a build up of methane gas and your body ex spells it…farts…you lose weight. YEAH!! Now when you let one “rip” and your spouse or kids give you a hard time, just tell them “I’m just shedding a few pounds, one fart at a time.”
Ok, now that we’ve had our fun, the true question is, “does farting really help you lose weight?” No, of course not. If it did, I would weight 98 lbs by now.
Let’s look at why you might be gassier now that you are eating better. I can tell you from my own experience that once I started increasing the amount of fiber in my system my body started reacting much better in so many ways. Bowel movements (I know you all want to hear this…lol) became much more regular and much easier. By drinking more water and staying hydrated it really helped all bathroom activities. I will tell you that I eat a lot of vegetables; I love broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and I love a good salad (easy on the dressings), but all of these lovely healthy veggies carry a price to pay…they cause you to have GAS!!
I can tell there is one food that myself and my family all love but it can be almost deadly if you pack them as a snack in the car on a long road trip…FIBER ONE BARS!! OMG!! I can tell you a story of a trip that started out early in the morning, with a full box of Oats & Chocolate Fiber One Bars this past fall and ended up with all the windows down and it sounded like the Campfire scene from “Blazing Saddles.” It does say that the bars are loaded with Fiber…but WOW!! Who knew?
And I’m sure there are some of you thinking about the amount of gas your favorite BEER DRINKER passes. And there is a reason for that…beer is made from grain. Grain is a source of dietary fiber. The brewing process intensifies the potency of the fiber. Resulting in more GAS!! But I would not recommend going on that type of liquid diet, the side effects are not too pleasant. :O

So what’s my point with all of this? My point is when you are eating better all of your systems start working better as well. Case in point…when you have surgery, one of the things before they will release you from the hospital is making sure that your bowels are starting to work properly again. They know this by whether or not you are passing gas. Remember, FARTING is a normal and healthy bodily function. Now that you are eating better and eating better food and more fiber…YOU WILL BE “FARTING” MUCH MORE! Remember “NO PAIN, NO GAIN! :P LOL
No one said losing weight couldn’t be fun.
We all need to have a sense of humor about losing weight and trying to make these lifestyle changes, because at times it can get really tough. But if you have a good sense of humor, a positive mental attitude and drive to succeed you will be successful in changing your lifestyle.
